BackgroundExchanging sex for money is a very ancient practice, but has generally been considered a taboo subject for polite conversation or even polite recognition. In what has always been the puritanical atmosphere of the United States, many people pass through their lives knowing very little about the selling and buying of sex and are delighted to ignore it. Others would like to know more about it but have suffered through lives of repression and inexperience.
Never fulfilled. Never knowledgeable. Satisfied perhaps that they have not sinned. But somehow one doubts it. The Internet has changed everything. Now it is possible for everyone to confront their desires directly. Many times assignations are made between strangers, only for romance, excitement or experimentation. Sometimes there have been offers of money. And from these casual encounters have come on-line and mobile services where fantasies can be fulfilled. Now we see that below the surface of conformity there is a turmoil of sexual needs and interests that literature and art have explored for centuries, but that our own country has been reluctant to accept and discuss and admit to until the advent of the Internet. So here is an initial step below the surface of hypocrisy. Hear the musical advertisements that these men place. Interviews where the show-goer can find out who they are, where they come from and what they think about their lives. This lively new musical is set on the night the "Oscars" of Male Escorts, where gigolos receive awards for their erotic talents. In the show we see a gala award ceremony, we hear the personal stories of men-for-sale, and wacky, raunchy tales about their working lives. There are romantic songs too, as loves grows between a rent boy and one of his clients. It's a wild and wonderful new kind of musical romp with original songs which reveal the stories of these male escorts in words, song, dance ... and in the flesh. |
